Saint-Gobain Weber equips Siemens Gamesa's first hydrogen battery-ready vessel

Not less than 6 different solutions from Saint-Gobain Weber have been installed by the interior turnkey supplier Vestnes Ocean on board the latest Siemens Gamesa vessel: the REM Energy. These solutions were chosen to meet the challenges of fire protection and comfort for passengers and crew.
- Shipowner: REM Offshore AS
- Naval architect: Havyard Design & Solutions AS
- Shipyard: Green Yard Kleven
- Interior turnkey: Vestnes Ocean
Thanks to an environmentally friendly propulsion technology, the REM Energy, which will ensure the maintenance of offshore wind farms in the North Sea, is ready to meet the future demands for zero emissions and to operate by using a battery and fuel cell system powered by green hydrogen.
In addition to the environmental focus, the safety and comfort of the people on board were decisive factors in the choice of materials.
Brands involved in reference
Weberfloor 4660N Marine Elastic, a fibre-reinforced self-levelling and pumpable material, contributed to an easy installation and offers exceptional durability for the flooring thanks to its flexibility and strength. Weber Fireshield Marine panels, made of fire retardant and lightweight poplar plywood, were chosen for the raised floor constructions in wheelhouse and technical rooms to reduce the weight by about 30% compared to standard birch plywood. Weber A-60 Floating Floors and Weber Marine Light dB Floor N contribute to fire safety and comfort on board the vessel thanks to their excellent airborne and impact noise reduction properties.
The REM Energy, which will accommodate up to 24 crew members and 75 offshore service technicians, was delivered in early December 2021.
